Guilt post

When Tong and Gerald told me they still read my blog I felt a pang of guilt for giving such shitty updates recently. This can be attributed to a variety of factors including (1) lack of time and; (2) my wish to keep some things where they belong i.e. in private haha. I'm well aware that whatever I put up here is fair game and decided not to write about certain issues, some of which formed a very large part of my life / feelings / consciousness over the past few months hence the lack of / cryptic updates.

But a page has been reluctantly turned and here I am, with what I hope is a blank slate, looking to update more regularly. It's coming to 5am and I'm not in the frame of mind to pen down anything remotely intellectual (indeed I rarely am). So I shall just keep it simple and give an account of my day.

After rushing to meet Keith at the gym (I was in danger of running late but made it just about in time in the end!) and a good workout, I rather strangely saw a blonde-haired boy seated outside the gym. Keith had to leave so I ended up sitting down there with this individual whose hair now adds another facet to an already diverse racial composition. Haha so I waited for Jin to finish gymming and we went to Haji Lane for a while but I had to leave almost immediately because I had agreed to meet Tong and Gerald at 7.45.

We had dinner at some place along Duxton Rd and then decided to... what else... LAN at Bukit Timah Shopping Centre. First up was DOTA which I especially suck at. After Gerald left we played one of the 'tower defence' variants which required us to defend this... golden tree (I think it went by another name), using characters named after those in LOTR. As always very addictive, and as always very hard to win. 'One more time', turned into 'must try again' turned into 'last game' X 3 or 4. Yup. Particularly jarring to Tong was the fact that I was out collecting tomes when the tree was being attacked - what can I say, I obviously have my priorities intact.

Speaking of which, my god I have done so little work so far it scares me.

Worst Hangover Ever

Ok I know I am going to sound like a loser but... I am still hungover from Saturday night (it's Monday night now for those of you in different time zones). My head vaguely hurts, my mum persists in lecturing me about the ill-effects of alcohol and how 'as a student' I should not be 'doing this to yourself' during term time. Really annoying. And I am supposed to start on Public Law tutorial now but can't seem to get into that mode - so perhaps there is a kernel of truth to what my mum is saying.

All I want to do now is plan for my next holiday.

Back In Black

Well well, I feel slightly dislocated, sitting at my desk after almost 26 days. I cannot possibly put more than 3 weeks of experience into words, but there are certain 'moments' that are worthy of mention - my first snow, ice-skating in Bryant Park, Central Park, Woodbury Common, the library of Congress, walking across the Brooklyn Bridge at sunset, taking in the view of Lower Manhattan from the promenade in Brooklyn, lounging in Cloud 9 on the 87th floor of the Hyatt in Shanghai...

And I must add random Christmas caroling and random NYE party at random Chelsea apartment to the list.

I have tons of pictures, and they may seem boring to most (because I like taking shots sans people), but to me they encapsulate the experience that was New York City, Washington D.C. and (sort of) Shanghai (wouldn't mind never returning there really).

So here's to the next holiday, wherever it may be.

Last Night

It's ending very differently than I wanted it to. But I hope it all meant something to you.
