Drought

I was on bullring today and realized that it has a counter with various perused blogs, and that my last update was 3 weeks ago, which is unpleasantly long by any standards. It may have something to do with the fact that I have been having a drought in terms of writing - while life has gone on and a lot of it has been blog-worthy, I just haven't found the time or effort to crystalize the random thoughts and recounts. So maybe I'm just plain lazy. Anyway, there's no better time then the present. I am in school, trying to get work done, more or less finished Company, so do not want to read the hundreds of pages worth of assigned CLT, so yeah, no better time than the present yes?

Fireworks. Yes fireworks. They were beautiful. I don't get that feeling of awe and magic in Singapore too often, and so it was a blue moon indeed when I found myself along the Esplanade, eyes transfixed on the night sky, with color and lights bursting in every which way, some of them disappearing almost as quickly as they appeared, some lingering a tad longer, slightly less ephemeral, falling slowly like gold dust, and others expanding rapidly outwards, as if coming towards you in a 'big bang' of sorts.

We were a mixed bag that night. And yet connected in the strange way that people in Singapore who have studied in the same category of schools for a period of their lives are connected.

School has been alright so far. Part of me wants it to get busier. That perverse side that believes a packed schedule is the hallmark of a successful person. The other part just wants to sink back into the languid days of the Summer past. But I guess we all have to face reality at some point.

Stuff

Singing till my voice was (slightly) hoarse, shopping and dining with old friends, eating and chilling with new(er) ones. And a lot of magazine reading at Borders - everything from Time to W, the Economist to Vogue, Newsweek to the New Yorker...

I'm on a plane to nowhere,
And where I really want to go,
Well, no one flies there.
